Cherokee Nation Management & Consulting brings fresh perspective to Marine Corps logistics program
Cherokee Nation Management & Consulting (CNMC) has a proven record of exceptional logistics and warehouse management for federal agencies. It is their extensive past performance and proven expertise that earned the company a competitive contract to manage and operate the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Consolidated Storage Program’s (CSP) worldwide network of facilities.
“The USMC Consolidated Storage Program is critical to the readiness and operational success of Marines wherever and whenever they are called to fight,” says Dan Guinan, CNMC operations general manager. “Cherokee takes great pride in providing our nation’s service members with the proper mission-tailored equipment that is critical to their safety and continued success.”
CSP supports Marine Forces with individual combat clothing and equipment (ICCE), special training allowance pool and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense equipment; soft-walled shelters and camouflage netting; and non-destructive testing and evaluation armor inspection systems.
Upon taking over the USMC CSP contract, Cherokee set to work to onboard more than 300 people and transition into day-one ready status. The company’s team supports global CSP operations across more than 57 facilities at approximately 21 geographic locations and serves 500,000 Marines each year.
“Almost every Marine comes through one of our facilities,” Guinan says. “Our management approach is to put the Marine at the forefront. We anticipate, forecast and deliver the best-maintained equipment at the right time and place to make sure they are safe, well-equipped and ready to perform anything that is asked of them.”
Innovative Approach
In the year that CNMC has been managing the contract, its team has already increased efficiencies, reduced errors in warehouse operations and helped modernize the CSP program.
- Cherokee has standardized business practices throughout the CSP which has led to improved processing times and inventory accuracy.
- Dedicated quality assurance managers continuously monitor processes and procedures to ensure the Marine Corps remains audit ready.
- The team has incorporated innovative technologies across the CSP operation that have enhanced inventory accountability and tracking.
Cherokee’s program manager and three regional managers for the CSP contract are all Marine Corps veterans; they have more than 90 years of leadership experience combined and an in-depth understanding of operational readiness through logistics efficiency.
“As a retired Marine, it is an honor to support today’s Marines and Sailors through the CSP contract,” says Mike Jones, program manager at CNMC. “Our team’s firsthand knowledge of the Corps and the CSP facilities means we understand the challenges Marines face and we know how to deliver the support they need to be successful.”
Exceptional customer service and total asset visibility are at the core of Cherokee’s contract mission support.
“Our team understands the unbroken success of this critical Marine Corps program is essential to operational readiness around the globe,” says Cassandra Price, director of operations at CNMC. “We are committed to providing innovative solutions that reduce costs, reduce waiting times and drive efficiency, just as we have done elsewhere in the Marine Corps.”
