Helping Our Afghan Allies Build New Lives in America
When tens of thousands of Afghan allies sought refuge in America after Kabul fell, Cherokee Federal partnered with USCIS to create a nationwide support network with remarkable reach. We established support centers across the country, assisting over 35,000 Afghans through Operation Allies Welcome and connecting with 55% of local Afghan populations. Our comprehensive support centers provided essential services including legal assistance, mental health resources, education enrollment, employment connections and housing placement. USCIS staff provided in-person guidance to help families navigate their immigration journey. By uniting federal and local governments, nonprofits and community leaders, we built sustainable support systems helping families achieve critical milestones faster – securing jobs, enrolling children in schools, and establishing permanent homes. This collaborative model transformed a humanitarian challenge into an opportunity, honoring America's promise to those who stood with us.
